Kemaren, tmn gw muru, baru ngedarin undangan buat pernikahan dia minggu dpn di tamilnadu, india. Waktu itu sempet bercanda2 kita, blg, "why is there no air ticket along with the invite?" Trus dia blg, "haha, air ticket u must provide urself, everything else i will take care".
Kemaren, pas jam OT (seharusnya), gw ngobrol2 sm tmn gw satu lg orang tamil, karthik namanya. Kita membahas undangan itu lah kan, terus makin lama bahasan makin melebar....
"It'll take 12 hrs t muru's hse, and another two days to the reception place", he said
"Is it the girls' hse?"
"No, the girls house is too old, mb ard 150 yrs.. it's a custom at her area to have a house lived by 2 generations at least" (OMG i thought)
"Muru's reception will be held in the grandparents hse. It's in the remote area, where the houses are so long and big, they connect one road to another"
"All old Indians live in such a house?"
"No no no.. only rich ppl do, usually they who used to work overseas or have had some business overseas"
Conclusion is: Muru's rich, no wonder he confidently said, he'll take care of everything... *beside the air ticket.

Kemudian tmn gw mule nyeletuk2, "so, are you going?" "no laaah so far away, must take more than 1 week leh, just gg back and forth already wastes a week!"
Lalu si karthik nyerocos lg, "if u all go there, i doubt u can come back here in one piece"
heee? whyy?? is it that horrible?

Terus dia mule bercerita betapa "kejamnya" India. Meski some things I can relate to lah. Secara gitu ya, Indonesia jg sama2 aja. Cm menurut gw org2 India itu lbh mengerikan dari cerita2nya. Contoh nih ya, kt dia pas lo di airport baru sampe gitu, si porter2 barang itu udh siap2 dan lgsg mengambil barang2 lo dgn paksa. ga pake tanya2 lg. 1 porter lgsg ambil barang lo yg satu porter yg laen ambil yg satu. Nah lo, mo ngikutin yg mana coba? Setidaknya di kita klo udh satu porter yg bantuin yg laen tau diri lah ya cari penumpang laennya...

Trus dia cerita ttg kriminalitas si bangsanya itu. Katanya saking jeniusnya orang2 India (and I thought Indonesians have criminal minds) pernah ada kejadian, bbrp orang berpakaian polisi nyetop van yg isinya duit gitulah. Disetop, ktnya van itu berisi duit2 palsu jd mesti diamankan, meyakinkan bgtlah pokonya. Trus itu van dibawa ajya... perampokan deh.
Dan banyak lg cerita laennya..
Kesimpulannya, gw sedikit merasa lega bangsa gw lbh beradab. Meski ga patut dibanggakan jg sih. Tp sedikit lega lah...
